The device life cycle is useful to assess who created a device and when any changes are made. It represents different stages of a device in IoTConnect. These stages are – create, acquire, active, release, change entity, update, inactive and delete.
(Screen: Device Life Cycle)
Device life cycle shows the activities you performed on a device and the status of a device. On creating a device, it gets recorded as ‘Device Created’ in Activity and ‘Created’ in Status. Other activities and status of a device life cycle are as per the following:
- Active: A device is registered in IoTConnect but not connected to the cloud.
- InActive: A device is neither active nor available to connect to the cloud.
- Acquired: A device is connected to IoT Hub and ready to transact data.
- Released: A device is released from IoT Hub but ready to use anytime as it’s registered in IoTConnect.
- Entity Changed: A device entity can be changed anytime.
- Updated: Whether you change an entity of a device or a device name, the activity will be considered as an update.
